2021 Christmas wish list

Is it too early to be thinking about our 2021 Christmas wish list? I say no!

It may only be early November, but with as long as it takes to ship and receive stuff these days, you better believe I am planning ahead. Plus, maternity leave ends just a few short weeks before Christmas (sad, sad truth) so I am front loading the Christmas spirit.

Below we have the top ten kitchen items on our 2021 Christmas wish list. If you have any foodies on your shopping list, you might want to snag some of these gifts!

1.Silicone spatulas

We currently only have two rubber spatulas, which is nowhere near enough. I always look for spatulas that are heat safe for high temperatures and have good reviews (if purchasing online). Most importantly, they should come in fun colors 🙂

2. Small cutting boards

Now that we have a toddler we find ourselves needing to cut food into manageable pieces. We already have this set and some flexible cutting boards. I just ordered one of these. Now we need some little guys for when we cut up French toast or apples. P.S. – we love this apple slicer. The slices are a manageable size and the slicer is very hardy.

3. Funny kitchen towels

These things help me not take life too seriously, and they remind me to laugh a little, even after a tough day at work. Very necessary. These too.

4. Food thermometer

We’re those weird people that temp meat when we cook it. That probably seems strange, but it’s the best way to make sure meat is cooked to a safe temperature without overcooking it. We most definitely need his and hers thermometers. Mostly just because I can’t decide on a color.

5. Pot and pan organizer

Our pot and pan situation is currently a mess. We have this pan set plus this gorgeous pan. Now we need to organize it all. My plan is to put baking pans in the oven drawer instead of cooking pans. Skillet handles are always locking me out of the oven drawer. End this tyranny!

6. French fry cutter

Last year we bought this air fryer and we have been enjoying home cut fries ever since. A French fry cutter would make that experience even more enjoyable. I love that this one comes with two sizes of cutting plates.

7. Citrus juicer

We got one of these for our wedding years ago, but we seem to have loved it to death. It bit the dust just a few years after we were married, so now we need a new one.

8. Produce rack

They had me at “reclaim your countertops.” While I’m not sure that will happen, it would really help to have a designated place for things like bread, potatoes, and onions. I may even need two.

9. New tofu press

I have one like this, but I want to try a new style and see which one I like best. Besides, we usually press two blocks of tofu at once, so having a second press would help speed that up. Side note: press your tofu. It makes a world of difference. As does cooking it in an air fryer, but that’s a post for another time.

10. Set of square white dishes.

We got this set of dishes for our wedding, and I LOVE it. But I can no longer find it, and our set is starting to chip and break. Plus, eight settings just doesn’t cut it these days. I’m still deciding an the set I want, but these are the top three contenders:

1. Food Network Shortbread 16-piece Dinnerware Set (Kohl’s ~ $110)

Why does the most expensive one have to be my favorite? Honestly my favorite part of this set is the coffee cups. But we don’t need more coffee cups.

Still my first choice.

2. Better Homes and Gardens 16 piece Square Porcelain Dinnerware Set (Amazon ~$53)

Nice basic set, while still affordable. I especially like the bowls.

3. Threshold 16-piece Square Dinnerware Set (Target ~$50)

It’s white. It’s square. I won’t be heartbroken if one of the kids breaks a piece of it. A little more basic looking than I would like though.

I love that white dishes can be both your everyday and special occasion dishes. And food just looks so lovely on white dishes.
